Magnetic Base Station for Survey Correction

The MagBase is a magnetometric base station designed for stationary monitoring of the Earth's magnetic field. It serves as a reference sensor during aerial, terrestrial, or borehole magnetic surveys, especially as a complement to the MagDrone or MagWalk systems.

The recorded data allow correction of temporal variations in the magnetic field (daily noise, temporary disturbances), significantly improving the quality of geophysical results.

Self-contained System Ready for Field Use

The MagBase is a fully self-contained system including:

• A triaxial fluxgate magnetometer FGM3D/75

• A data logger

• An integrated GPS for georeferencing and timestamping

• A 12 V / 7 Ah lead-gel battery for full-day recording campaigns

This setup allows quick installation in the field, without external infrastructure.

Magnetic Data Acquisition and Correlation

The station continuously records variations in the magnetic field with:

• Sampling frequency up to 200 Hz

• Massive storage on internal memory card

• Data download via USB interface

• Live serial output (2 Hz)

The data can then be merged with those from airborne sensors via MagDrone DataTool to correct temporary noise sources and improve interpretation of magnetic anomalies.
